Everybody has some sort of electronics. It is everywhere. We want it for many reasons from leisure to utility. Also, many electronics are battery operated. Some batteries are rechargeable. Some are disposable.
Batteries can be considered electronic waste depending on location. It can also be considered hazardous waste. Check your local municipal to properly dispose of electronic waste. Some stores recycle batteries for you for free. Just like some stores recycle ink cartridges for free. Please, check with the store before taking it to the store.
A quick search on your favorite search engine should point you in the right direction. There are many reasons to not put electronics in the trash when a new version comes out. There are also reasons to do more with it than just recycle it.
Repairing is also another option but has costs. If you do not want to repair then you can reuse. If you do not want to reuse electronics, you can upcycle electronics including computers or computer parts. You can even donate them.
Why is recycling the last option next to trash? When we dispose of electronics, the only component that gets extracted and reused is the gold. Everything else gets thrown in the appropriate waste sites which is a landfill. Before you go gold hunting with your electronics. There is not that much gold to make any money.
If you want to recycle electronics, there are a few options. There is the local municipal, stores, manufacturer take back programs. We can't provide a list for many reasons but a good place to start is your favorite search engine and keep an eye out when you are in a store.
As part of the social responsibility plan we want to inform and encourage everyone to take part in recycling electronics. We do not recycle electronics for you yet.
We are also committed to reaching our sustainability goal of using 100% recycled paper by starting with 30% recycled paper.
